MEMBERS of the Oddfellows Friendship Groups in Redruth and Truro were put to the test earlier this month in a spirited quiz designed to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Three members battled their way to a tie, but only one could take home the prize, a nostalgic VE Day jigsaw following a lightning-fast tie-breaker round.

Meanwhile, others kept the energy levels high with rounds of ever-popular card bingo where packets of sweets awaited the lucky winners.

As always, the gatherings were full of warmth, laughter and the comforting clink of teacups.

Spring water, cakes, chocolate biscuits, fresh fruit and plenty of chatter filled the room, as members caught up on everything from summer health tips, courtesy of the district welfare officer who outlined the assistance available to members in times of need and an explanation of the upcoming switch from analogue to digital phone lines.

Looking ahead, members can look forward to free chair yoga sessions and a summer outing with lunch, offering more chances to connect and socialise.

The event also featured the usual favourites, take-home puzzles, free new books and a fundraising prize raffle with proceeds going to a local good cause.
