A YOUNG actor from Newquay has made her feature film debut alongside an Oscar winner.

Tigerlily Langford, aged 12, appears in The Dreadful, which was filmed entirely on location in Cornwall, including scenes at Boconnoc Church.

The Gothic horror film is about a young woman and her mother-in-law struggling to survive on the harsh, isolated edges of 15th-century England during the Wars of the Roses, which stars Sophie Turner, Kit Harington and Marcia Gay Harden who won the academy award for best supporting actress in the 2000 biographical film Pollock.

Tigerlily plays the role of Anne, the younger version of Sophie Turner’s character, which the film centres around.

She was well suited for the role as she has trained professionally in acting and has also appeared at Hall for Cornwall and the Minack Theatre, while pursuing film and television work alongside attending school.

Tigerlilly said: “It was an amazing experience acting in my debut feature film. Everyone on-set was so lovely.

“I was a bit nervous but everyone made me feel at home.

“It has been extra special that The Dreadful was filmed in Cornwall as I love the county. It was amazing to film close to home in such beautiful scenery.”

Tigerlilly has certainly got the acting bug after appearing in her first feature film.

She said: “I already had a passion for acting on stage, but after my experience on The Dreadful I'm now sure screen acting is what I want to do when I'm older.”

Tigerlilly said it was an inspiring experience acting in The Dreadful alongside such top actors.

“They are all such kind and talented actors and it was amazing to meet them all. I learnt so much watching them work,” she said.

Tigerlilly’s father Ben added: “Featuring in The Dreadful has been a particularly special debut for Tigerlilly.”
