A NEW mural is being created to help promote a surf and skate expo that kicks off this Friday.
Artists Andy Harrison, Jack Tierney and Jimmy Smith are spray and brush painting a scene showcasing skaters riding through a city on the side of North Shore Surf Shop in Alma Place. The artwork by Mural Public will also promote a new EA Sports game called Skate.
The skate mural will be on the wall for around a month before it is painted over and a new permanent mural is created before Christmas.
The UK Surf & Skate Expo is being held Newquay Sports Centre, Concrete Waves and Great Western Beach until Sunday at 3pm.
There will be 35 speakers in the Expo Hall including skateboarding icon Tony Alva, big wave surfers Andrew Cotton and Dylan Longbottom and Olympian skateboarder Lola Tambling. There will be skateboarding demos, skate jams as well as a yoga and wellness tent.
The first-ever Wavelength UK Surfer Awards will be held on Friday night at 6pm. Forty eight finalists will find out who takes home trophies across 12 categories.
An evening with Tony Alva is being held on Saturday at 7pm.
