DETECTIVES have launched a murder investigation into the death of a man in Truro.

Devon and Cornwall Police officers were called to a report of a concern for welfare for a man at an address in the Polruan Road area of Truro, off Malpas Road, at around 7.20am on Wednesday, October 29.

Officers and paramedics attended, and a 23-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

A 23-year-old man from Truro has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time. A warrant of further detention has been granted, allowing police to keep him in custody for another 36 hours.

Detective Superintendent Rachael Bentley said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding this case. A cordon is currently in place as a thorough examination of the scene continues and cordons are expected to remain in place for some days.

“It is believed that the two men were known to each other. Currently, this is being treated as an isolated incident, and we are not seeking anyone else in connection to the death.

“Members of the public can expect to see a heightened police presence in the area as enquiries are ongoing. If anyone has any concerns, I encourage them to approach and speak to our officers.”
