A MAN was saved from the sea in Newquay Bay on Monday morning.
Newquay Rowing Club gig club has been praised after the man in his twenties was “removed from the sea” near the Fly Cellars at about 8.20am.
Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team, Newquay RNLI Lifeboats, police and ambulance service was alerted to the incident.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called by HM Coastguard following concern for the welfare of a man in Newquay.
“The man had been removed from the sea near The Flyer Cellars.
“The man in his twenties was taken to hospital to be checked over and left in the care of ambulance.
A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said: “We were tasked to reports of a casualty in the water near Newquay Harbour.
“Credit to Newquay Rowing Club Newquay Gig Club for their quick actions and thank you also to members of the public for all their assistance.
“All assets were stood down once the casualty was safely in the hands of the ambulance service.”
