A HUGE aircraft carrier appeared out of the mizzle into Newquay Bay on Monday afternoon.
The HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier is conducting essential helicopter flight trials and carry out sea training.
The vessel has been anchored in sheltered waters like Mount's Bay near Penzance and has been seen transiting past Porthtowan and Newquay while working in the Western Approaches because Cornwall lacks a deep-water port capable of docking a 65,000-tonne warship.
People watched the vessel voyage from Newquay Bay towards Fistral Bay.
HMS Queen Elizabeth is the lead ship of the Queen Elizabeth class of aircraft carriers built for the Royal Navy.
The mighty warship is capable of carrying 60 aircraft including fixed wing, rotary wing and autonomous vehicles.
The aircraft carrier is 932 feet long, which is roughly the equivalent length of three football pitches, and features a flight deck that is 70 metres wide.
