THE team from Hotel Polurrian welcomed Year 6 pupils from neighbouring Mullion Primary School for its annual ‘Meet the Professionals’ careers event, as part of the school’s partnership programme.

The interactive event is now in its second year and brought together members of the Hotel Polurrian team alongside construction contractors and multi-discipline professional consultants currently involved in the upcoming redevelopment of the hotel.

The school children, aged 10 and 11, had the opportunity to engage directly with professionals from different sectors, including hotel management, front-of-house operations, catering, architects, engineering, and project planning.

Andrew Long, owner of Hotel Polurrian, said: “We're proud to support our local community and help inspire the next generation. It was lovely to see the enthusiasm of the school children as they asked thoughtful questions and learned more about the many roles that keep the hotel running, as well as those shaping its future.”

This event was organised in collaboration with Mullion Primary School and aimed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and encourage young people to start thinking about the world of work in a practical and interactive way.

Head teacher at Mullion Primary School, Rob Chirgwin, added: “Opportunities like this are invaluable for our students. Meeting professionals in real-world settings helps to bring learning to life and opens young minds to the wide range of careers available to them in the future. We’re grateful to Hotel Polurrian for making this careers session engaging and inspiring.”

This event forms part of the hotel’s commitment to community engagement and education.

During 2025 this has included attendance at a series of on-site career events at Mullion Secondary School and Helston Community College as well as a commitment to refurbish the former Lifeguard Building in Polurrian Cove. The hotel recently hosted a BBQ to celebrate the completion of the building and thank those who helped resurrect it.
