THE family of a Liskeard man who died following an incident at a property in the town have paid tribute to him, saying he “didn’t deserve what happened to him”.

Ian Davis, 56, was found with multiple injuries inside a property at Baytree Hill shortly before 9.30pm on Sunday, September 13. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family said: “He was harmless and he loved his animals, especially dogs. He didn’t deserve what happened to him. He will be missed and loved.”

Tributes have also been paid by members of the local community.

Alan Dan Lee said: “Ian was always smiling every time we saw him. A friendly bloke. Don’t know the ins and outs, but he didn’t deserve this.”

Sue Wadsworth added: “Such a shame. Ian wouldn’t hurt a fly. He was a happy go lucky harmless man.”

Bhavna Shukla said Ian was “a lovely guy” who would “always stop in his tracks to say hi to my dog”.

Specially trained officers are supporting Mr Davis’s family as detectives continue to investigate.

A local man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, before enquiries subsequently identified three further suspects.

Two men aged in their 40s and 50s respectively were arrested on suspicion of murder, along with a man in his 20s from Plymouth.

All four have now been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

“We recognise the impact this incident has had on the local community and would like to thank residents for their support and patience while enquiries are carried out.”
