AROUND 100 people attended a Harvest Festival at Gwennap Pit, near Redruth, on Sunday, August 11.

Worship was led by the Rev Jane Willcock, a supernumerary Methodist minister. She also delivered Bible readings along with Tony Langford.

St John’s Singers, from Chacewater, contributed musical items and led the singing with organist John Shepherd, pianist Maggie Lister and Tony Reynolds on drums. After the service, many enjoyed tea, coffee and biscuits.

Part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, Gwennap Pit is one of the best known Methodist sites in Britain, attracting visitors from around the world. Methodist founder, John Wesley, preached there on 18 occasions.
