MEMBERS of the Oddfellows Friendship Groups in Redruth and Truro were treated to a fun-filled and heartwarming gathering this May.

The events included a lively beetle drive, plenty of birthday cheer, and a special celebration in honour of member Victoria, who marked her 80th birthday in style.

The beetle drive, full of laughter and friendly competition, was accompanied by a delightful spread of light refreshments.

Members enjoyed not one, but two birthday cakes - each crowned with sparklers - along with teas, coffees, chocolate biscuits, traditional hevva cake, fresh fruit and sweets.

A special mention went to Alison, whose dedication and hard work in organising items for the annual shoebox appeal, coordinated by Sandra, were greatly appreciated.

As always, the gathering provided an opportunity for members to stay informed about the range of support available to them.

A welfare update was shared which highlighted the various member grants for dental and optical care, the members' advice line and access to legal support.

There was also an update on exciting upcoming events such as free chair yoga sessions and a visit to a historic landmark, followed by a communal lunch.

As part of the day’s festivities, members participated in a lively raffle, with the proceeds going to local charities as well as the free book club and distribution of take-away puzzle sheets for members to enjoy at home.

In June, members can look forward to an inspiring talk by local councillor Ruth Major, who will share insights into her "Beautify Britain" campaign. There will also be a fun, wartime-themed quiz to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
