THERE was excitement at Camborne Science & International Academy (CSIA) as students gathered to receive their long-awaited GCSE results.
After months of hard work, resilience, and determination, students were rewarded with results that reflect their academic achievement.
It was another year where results have improved across the board. Attainment 8, a measure of how well students have achieved in their GCSEs, has increased at CSIA with students achieving grades 4+ in English and Maths at 69 per cent, 5+ at 47 per cent and 7+ at 16 per cent.
A staggering 81 per cent of grades in English were at or above a grade 4 and 23 per cent of all mathematics grades at grades 9, 8 and 7. Vocational subjects continue to perform outstandingly with nearly 40 per cent of all grades being at Distinction (grade 7+) or above and 100 per cent at Pass (grade 4+) or above.
Riley R achieved grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, English Language, French, History, Mathematics, Physics and Further Mathematics, with a grade 8 in English Literature. He will join the Cornwall School of Maths and Science (CSMS), part of CSIA’s post-16 provision, to study Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics alongside an Extended Project Qualification.
Daisy W achieved Grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Physics, Spanish and Further Mathematics and a grade 7 was in Economics. Daisy is continuing her studies at CSMS next year and plans to study Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Biology alongside an Extended Project Qualification.
Fox H achieved an impressive seven grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, English Language, Mathematics and Physics, a grade 8 in Further Mathematics and a grade 7 in English Literature. Fox is going on to study Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Economics alongside an Extended Project Qualification at CSMS in September.
Lily W achieved Grade 9s in Chemistry, Computer Science, English Language, English Literature and History and grade 8s in Biology, Geography, Mathematics and Physics. Lily will be attending the CSIA’s post-16 campus, Camborne Sixth Form, in September.
Simonas L and Brook V both achieved six grade 9s, three grade 8s and a grade 7 and will go on to CSMS to further their studies in September. Ella B, Andreas H, Amber J, Eleanor N and Thomas R all achieved five grade 9s amongst their results and will all stay at Camborne Sixth Form or CSMS in September.
In total 151 grades were a grade 9, 347 of all grades were 8+, 611 of all grades were 7+, 1361 of all grades were 5+.

“We are committed to developing well-rounded young people who achieve academic excellence and also grow as individuals. It’s been a year of achievement in so many areas and today’s results are the perfect way to celebrate that.”
