The events featured a variety of Easter-themed activities, including fun competitions with chocolate eggs up for grabs as well as card bingo and duck racing sessions where Easter eggs made for popular prizes.
A highlight of the gatherings was news of the group’s decision to renew their adoption of ‘Amos’, a donkey cared for at the ‘Flicka Foundation’ Donkey Sanctuary in Mabe Burnthouse, near Penryn.
Members continue to visit the sanctuary regularly, seeing first hand the remarkable work being done to rescue animals from neglect and cruelty. Amos himself was saved from a live animal market in 2019, arriving in poor condition before being nursed back to health.
The continued support for the donkey adoption reflects the group’s strong commitment to charitable giving. In recent months, local Oddfellows have also supported organisations such as ‘Hidden Help’, which assists people in need, and ‘Sue’s Cat Rescue’.
Alongside the activities, members received an update on benefits from an Oddfellows District welfare representative focussing on dental and optical grants, reinforcing the supportive and informative nature of the group.
Prize raffles were also held, with proceeds going towards local charitable causes.
Members were treated to a generous spread of refreshments including tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits, fruit, sweets and small Easter eggs. Take-home puzzle sheets and free books added an extra touch to the afternoons.
These Easter gatherings once again showcased the Oddfellows’ dedication to friendship, community spirit and making a positive difference.
