A couple, living in Truro, are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary today (Wednesday, October 29).
Husband and wife Peter, 94, and Edna Sirl, 92, who moved to Cornwall in 1991, got married in Guilford, Surrey back in 1955.
The couple, who have four sons, as well as nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, are very much loved and heads of the Sirl family.
They have spent their retirement travelling the world from the Great Wall of China, cruising down the Panama Canal and visiting the cherry blossoms of Japan. They’ve also been to Australia twice and to 35 states of America.
Edna and Peter send family postcards when they travel and remember all birthday’s and anniversaries of every relative.
The whole family are celebrating today with an anniversary do at The Alverton Hotel in Truro where over 40 family members will be present, all coming together from across the country to mark this platinum anniversary.
