THE GWEL an Mor Resort in Portreath has gone into administration after 17 years in business.
The centre offered luxury living by way of holiday lodges, indoor heated swimming pool, golf and archery. Administrators have reassured customers that “day-to-day operations continue with minimal disruption”.
An associated wildlife and education centre, also known as Feadon Farm, closed permanently earlier this month due to the need for significant upgrades to meet new zoo legislation. Animals were rehomed through wildlife centres and specialists.
During lockdown 2020, Gwel an Mor offered NHS key workers vital accommodation. The resort was acquired by Cove UK (Cove Communities) in March 2021.
However, Adam Paxton and Rob Croxen of professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal Europe LLP were appointed as joint administrators on November 17 to Cove Communities Holiday Park UK Holdco Limited ("HPUK") along with three of its subsidiaries, including Cove Communities Venture 2 Gwel an Mor OpCo Ltd. A fourth subsidiary has also gone into administration. The above companies operate 11 holiday parks in total.
“As administrators, our priority is to ensure a smooth transition and maintain stability across the parks,” said Mr Paxton. “We are working to ensure day-to-day operations continue with minimal disruption. Owners, residents and holidaymakers should not be impacted, and can contact the site managers with any questions they may have.”
Other companies in the wider Cove Communities group are not impacted by the administrations and continue to trade as normal.
