Coastguards managed to secure a man on the cliff edge in Newquay on Wednesday night.

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to assist Devon & Cornwall Police at the incident near Towan Beach at about 10.50pm.

A Coastguard spokesperson said: “The team managed to rapidly secure an individual and hand them over to the Police.

“Our colleagues at Newquay RNLI Lifeboats we’re also on standby in case they were required.”

A Police spokesperson said: “We were notified to reports of a concern of welfare of a man on a cliff edge in Newquay.

“Officers attended the scene along with HM Coastguard.

“The man was taken to Hospital by officers and left in the care of medical staff.”
