THE parish church in Newquay has received a grant to provide infant formula for families struggling during the cost of living crisis.
St Michael’s Church has been given an Infant Formula Grant from Feed, a charity putting women and families at the heart of infant feeding by campaigning for inclusive policies and to end infant inequality in the UK.
Operations Manager for the Benefice of Towan Blystra, Rachel Craze, said: “As someone out of the baby formula loop I was beyond shocked at the cost of infant formula in the supermarkets.
“The tins have security tags. Formula prices have increased 25 per cent in the last two years, adding yet more pressure on families already struggling with the cost of living.
“This grant funding allows us to provide infant formula to those with babies under the age of one.
“If young families need formula and are struggling with the rising cost we can help.
“If successful Rachel will be looking at additional funding streams to continue the scheme.”
“St Michael’s Church is open Monday to Friday from between 8.30am and 3pm and 8am to noon on Sunday. Simply pop-in and the team will help.”
