HUNDREDS of people thronged Camborne’s town centre for this year’s annual Christmas lights switch-on. Santa arrived in a vintage car and greeted children in the Kehelland Trust shop, while festive elves roamed around on stilts and bright displays dazzled in shop windows.

Entertainment was provided throughout the afternoon by CD Kids, Keur Arwodha Kemeneth and Makasong, Holman’s Choir, TR14ers, The Goonbillys, The Ukuhayles and the Redruth Carol Choir.

The honour of pressing the red button went to local schoolgirl Charlotte, who was chosen for the job after being an enthusiastic participant in Camborne’s New Ideas for New Connexion Street art project.

The event was organised by BID Camborne with generous financial support from Camborne Town Council. Sponsors included Macsalvors Plant Hire, Speedy Hire, Arcadia Tree Care, AR Newport Transport, Cormac and Apollo Bingo.
