A PRESTIGIOUS choir and a brass band will be putting on a performance to raise funds.
Newquay Male Voice Choir is joining together with Newquay Band to present a concert at St Michael’s Church on Friday, September 5 at 7pm in aid of church funds.
The choir and band will be supported by two special guests, which includes Oll an Gwella and Rachel Margetts, the choir’s accompanist, who will be performing on the piano.
Oll an Gwella will be performing a short programme of pieces from their repertoire of ‘songs, shanties and smiles’.
Concert co-ordinator Jim Christophers said: “On a fine summer evening there is nothing to compare with having a male voice choir and a brass band performing at the same venue.
“Whenever the choir and band get together the audience is treated to an evening of exciting and memorable music that at times will tug at the heart strings while at others will have feet tapping and heads bobbing.
“There are bound to be familiar pieces from the cinema and musical theatre, pieces ‘from the charts’ and more traditional pieces from the male choir and brass band repertoires. It would be unusual if there were no opportunities for audience participation.
“Oll and Gwella need no introduction and Rachel is a young, talented and inspiring musician who is beginning to make a name for herself in the local area.”
Admission is £5 on the door and there will be a raffle and a retiring collection. Refreshments will be provided in the interval.
Newquay Male Voice Choir will also be performing at the Central Inn in Newquay on Wednesday, August 27 from 6.30pm.
