A CHARITY based in Newquay have raised more than £800 for local causes through its annual giant Easter egg draw.

Newquay Towan Blystra Lions arranged for pubs and eateries in the town to sell raffle tickets on their behalf.

50 per cent of the proceeds are set to go to the vendor’s chosen charity, while the other half will be retained by the charity to distribute to local causes after the cost of the eggs have been taken out.

Amongst the beneficiaries are Newquay Food Bank, RNLI, Cornwall Air Ambulance and The Mermaid Centre.

Heron Tennis, Treninnick Tavern, Pheasant Inn, The Plume of Feathers Mitchell, Two Clomes, The Falcon Inn, Travellers Rest, The Merrymoor, The Farmers Arms, and the Griffin Inn were among those raffling off the giant eggs.

A spokesperson for Towan Blystra Lions said: “Once again, huge thanks to Lions Danny for organising and running this year’s Giant Easter Egg draw. Over £800 was raised for good causes.”
