CAMBORNE’S Children Lantern Parade, which was meant to take place tonight (Friday, November 29) as part of the town’s Christmas Lights switch-on event, has been cancelled due to forecast wind.

Delivered by Camborne Town Council and BID Camborne, tonight’s festivities were going to be a culmination of the town’s light switch-on, Children’s Lantern Parade and Christmas Tree Festival.

However, due to the winds expected to hit the town this evening, the difficult decision has been made to cancel the parade.

A post on Camborne Town Council’s Facebook page read: “We're sad to announce that we've been forced to cancel the lantern parade element of 'Christmas in Camborne' event. We've been watching the weather forecast so closely, and sadly there were some significant changes to the wind forecast for today.

“We are working to arrange an opportunity for the lanterns to go on display in early 2025 as we really want to celebrate the amazing creations that have been lovingly made this year by the schools and colleges.

“Camborne Christmas Lights Switch-On Event & Christmas Tree Festival is still going ahead from 3.30pm. We hope everyone can still support this event. Keep your eyes peeled for Father Christmas who will be paying us a special visit on his sleigh. Revised road closure to accommodate for the change of plans.”
