A BEACH complex in Newquay is offering a complimentary dinner to anyone facing financial or personal hardship.
The Pickled Chef’s is staging a free Chef’s Table experience at Lusty Glaze Beach on Monday, March 9
Acclaimed local chef Richard Mason, better known as The Pickled Chef, is setting an extra place at the table for those who need it most.
The initiative aims to provide not just an exceptional dining experience, but also a sense of belonging, warmth and community.
The evening will showcase Richard’s signature style with vibrant, locally sourced ingredients prepared with creativity and care, and served in the stunning coastal setting of Lusty Glaze Beach. Guests will gather around the Chef’s Table for a shared culinary journey, with the complimentary place offered discreetly and without judgement.
The initiative reflects a growing awareness within Cornwall’s hospitality community of the importance of mental wellbeing and mutual support, particularly during challenging economic times. By offering a free place at the table, The Pickled Chef hopes to encourage openness, reduce stigma and remind people that they are not alone.
Richard said: “In hospitality, we’re in the business of looking after people,” says Richard. “Sometimes a great meal, good conversation and feeling truly welcomed can make a real difference. This is about creating a safe, supportive space for someone who might need a little lift.”
Those wishing to nominate themselves or someone else for the complimentary seat can do so privately via The Pickled Chef’s social media channels. All enquiries will be handled with sensitivity and confidentiality. With limited spaces available for the wider event, early booking is advised.
