POLICE swooped in to stop a vehicle in Newquay and arrest a teenager in possession of a replica firearm.

Officers were called following a report of a group of men being aggressive in a shop in Bank Street on Monday, June 15 at 12.45pm.

It was reported that one of the group was in possession of a replica firearm.

Officers stopped a vehicle containing the group on Gannel Road a short time later, which caused traffic delays in the area.

A replica firearm was located.

A 17-year-old boy from Hertfordshire was detained after it was determined he was sought by another force in relation to an assault.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Enquiries into the Newquay matter are ongoing.”
