Truro Volunteers Day will take place on Sunday, June 28 on Lemon Quay from 1pm to 5pm.
Organised and run by the Truro Volunteers group, with support from Truro City Council and the city’s four Cornwall councillors, the event is designed to showcase the organisations that make our lives smoother and richer, and to encourage residents to join them.
There will be live performances from the One Voice and Carrick U3A choirs, Drums4Fun, the Samba Band and the Kenwyn Troubadours.
More than 30 local organisations are participating, including Devon and Cornwall Police, Cornwall Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance. Among the others are groups ranging from hospital radio (CHBN) and health care (Hearing Loss Cornwall, iSight Cornwall, Kernow Kidney Patients) to community gardening (Truro in Bloom), bereavement support (Penhaligon Friends), twinning (Truro-Morlaix Twinning Association) and children’s groups (air and army cadets).
Organiser Paul Caruana said: “Opportunities exist for people to join organisations as well as volunteering to help run them. If you have nothing to do in your spare time and are raring to get involved in voluntary work locally, come along to see what’s available and what might suit you.”
