A MAN was rescued from cliffs in Newquay on Tuesday night after emergency services were scrambled.
Police, Newquay and Padstow Coastguard teams and the ambulance service attended the incident at the Tolcarne area at about 7pm.
The Coastguard set up a rope rescue and brought the man to safety. He was detained under the Mental Health Act.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We were called following a concern for welfare for a man at cliffs in the Tolcarne area of Newquay.
“It was reported the man was on the wrong side of the railings.
“The man was brought to a place of safety by Coastguard and detained under the Mental Health Act.”
A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team added: “We were tasked to assist Devon & Cornwall Police as well as South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust with a casualty near Tolcarne.
“After locating the casualty, a rope rescue was set up and successfully executed, bringing the casualty to safety before being handed over to the ambulance service for onward care.”
