EMERGENCY services were alerted after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man in Newquay.

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team, the police and the ambulance service attended the incident at Newquay Harbour on Sunday, February 22, at 2.15am.

They reported that the man “moved to a place of safety” after being spoken to and was left in the care of the ambulance service.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called following a concern for welfare for a man at Newquay Harbour.

“The Coastguard and ambulance service also attended. Following a period of dialogue the man moved to a place of safety.

“He was then left in the care of the ambulance service.”

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard added: “We were tasked to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Devon and Cornwall Police with an incident at Newquay Harbour.

“The team were stood down once the incident was resolved.”
