THE extraordinary individuals who make a difference every day are being sought as the Cornwall’s Heroes awards return for a second year.

Rewind Radio launched the ceremony last year in partnership with headline sponsor Duchy Hospital to celebrate inspirational people from across the county – those whose kindness, courage, dedication and community spirit help make Cornwall a special place to live.

Whether it's a friend who always puts others first, a family member who has overcome adversity, a neighbour offering quiet support, a colleague who goes above and beyond or a volunteer whose hard work often goes unnoticed, Rewind Radio wants to hear their story.,

Nominations are now open across a wide range of categories, including Community Champion, Unsung Hero, Rising Star, Sports Personality, Business Leader, Animal Welfare Champion and Lifetime Achievement.

The 2025 Child of Courage Award went to Reuben Whittle, who became a source of strength for his family after his dad's battle with cancer, showing maturity and courage beyond his years. Organisers hope there are many more untold stories like Reuben's waiting to be recognised across Cornwall this year.

Rewind Radio managing director Richard Woods said: “One of the things that makes Cornwall so special is its people. We were overwhelmed by the incredible stories that were shared with us last year. We heard about people who had shown immense courage, dedicated years of service to their communities, and made a genuine difference to the lives of others. We know there are many more stories waiting to be told, and we encourage everyone to take a few minutes to nominate someone deserving.”

Organisers are encouraging residents, schools, community groups, charities, sports clubs and businesses to get involved and say thank you. Nominations close at 11.59pm on Friday, July 31. To submit a nomination and view the full list of categories, visit www.rewindradio.co.uk/cornwallsheroes.
