“HARD, wet and hilly” - that’s how Truro’s Half Marathon was described by one runner who took part in the event on Sunday.

More than 500 runners braved the elements for the 13-mile race, setting off from Lemon Quay at 9.30am following the ring of the town crier’s bell.

Predominantly on road, the route followed a loop around central Truro before heading out to Porth Kea, Playing Place and Cowlands, including two challenging hills.

Runners Luke Jones from Worcester was first over the finish line in Lemon Quay with a time of 1:15:56, while Anna Harrold from Truro Running Club was the first woman home, in 1:22:11.

Hayle Runners won both the men’s and ladies’ team events, with Truro Running Club in second place.
