ALL eyes will be on the Recreation Ground in Redruth tomorrow as the table-topping Reds welcome nearest challengers Hinckley in National League Two (West).

Having struggled for much of last season which saw them just about avoid the newly-introduced end of campaign relegation play-off scrap, the Cornishmen have started with seven straight wins, dropping just one point in the process.

While there have been little changes in personnel, a kind fixture list coupled with improvements in key areas have seen them shine.

From their impressive victory at Lymm last time out, Redruth director of rugby Richie Kevern has unsurprisingly kept changes to a minimum.

Experienced full-back Luke Johnson starts in place of Adam Hall, while fellow academy graduate Finn Wolstencroft gets the nod at No.8 in place of powerhouse Rob Baragwanath.

New signing Harry Larkins, who has joined the Reds from neighbours Camborne, isn’t involved, although there is a welcome return amongst the replacements for youngster Finn Love who is on dual-registration with the Cornish Pirates.

Hinckley arrive from Leicestershire in superb form themselves having lost just once, and know that they could end the day top if they can win and avoid the hosts picking up a bonus point.

Kevern feels they are in a good place, but know they face a formidable challenge tomorrow afternoon.

He said: “It was a well-deserved two weeks off after our last game at Lymm where we really put in solid performance and put a stop on a dangerous side that have the ability to hurt you from all over the field.

“We gave ourselves a lighter week last week for training and then ramped things back up for Hinckley at home on Saturday, which is a huge challenge. Hinckley are a big side and are always tough side and will be our biggest test by far around certain areas of the game. We know that we have to ensure we are technically good if we are to give ourselves any chance of winning the game.

“No real changes for us other than swapping Luke Johnson back in for Adam Hall and Rob Baragwanath with Finn Wolstencroft. Rob was very good at Lymm and really took away any attacking threat they had, but we feel his involvement will be better suited in a different part of this game against Hinckley. It’s just great to have that option from a coaching and squad point.”

Kevern is also delighted to have another try-scoring option at his disposal in Larkins who won’t be rushed into the matchday 20.

He concluded: “We’re very pleased to welcome Harry Larkins back to the club, Harry was a mini junior here originally and entered the senior ranks, but moved over to Camborne at the time to gain senior experience and he’s certainly done that.

“Harry is a great addition for us and gives us another threat in a young backline. He only started training this week so we are getting him up to speed and introduced to the plays etc, but seeing him in training and the pre-season games I watched, he’s looking sharp and I’m excited to see him go in a red shirt.”
