NEWQUAY’S ladies headed to St Mellion to take on Perranporth in the Gammon Trophy on Sunday, June 14, but despite some close matches, were beaten 5-2.

Tuesday, June 16 was Lady President's Day where members were invited to sign up for either an 18 or nine-hole Stableford.

The weather was dry for the most part, while lady president Sandra Lloyd treated the ladies to nibbles and Prosecco by the 12th tee and a glass of Pimms in the clubhouse. The prizes were handbags and make-up bags made by the very talented Sue Hodge.

Winners in the 18-hole Stableford were: DIVISION ONE: 1 Gillian Tregay – 41pts; 2 Annie Lobb – 37; 3 Debbie Cain – 35; DIVISION TWO: 1 Lorna Parfitt – 42pts; 2 Roz O'Shea – 40; 3 Pat Thom – 37.

Winners in the nine-Stableford were: 1 Judith Reseigh – 18pts; 2 Meg Platton – 17; 3 Joyce Cain – 16.

The overall winner of the President's Cup, awarded for the 18-hole Stableford, was Lorna Parfitt with 42 points. Judith Reseigh took the nine-hole trophy honours.

Following the presentation, Sandra thanked everyone who had made the day a success and she was presented with a bouquet of flowers by lady captain Lesley Pocklington.
