ST BLAZEY make the long trip to Oxfordshire tomorrow looking to continue this year’s journey in the FA Vase.

The Green and Blacks, who have already seen off Launceston, Millbrook and Longwell Green Sports, all by 3-0 scorelines, head to Hellenic League Division One high-flyers Wantage Town (3pm) who have won nine of their 12 outings with just one defeat.

Blazey themselves are going well in sixth with games in-hand on those above them, and travel looking to bounce back from a first league defeat of the season in the Western League Premier Division at fellow promotion-hopefuls Clevedon Town last Saturday. They are also boosted by having three players back in wingers Teigan Rosenquest and Harry Blows and centre-half Tom Cavanagh.

However, boss Dan Hart will have to do without Reece Shanley and Sean Thomson who are cup-tied having turned out for Tavistock and Liskeard Athletic respectively earlier in the competition.

Looking ahead to the last clash, where a victory would see them reach the last 64, Hart said: “There’s a real excitement about the tie on Saturday where we’ll play a team that are new to us and one we don’t know a great deal about. It’s a rarity for us, and likewise for them.

“I feel like we’re going into the game with a bit of a restart in mind after last week’s defeat at Clevedon, but also looking to extend which overall has been a really good run of form.

“We know it’s a 3G surface which will pose its own problems, and also its positives as we’re now heading into the latter part of October where the pitches are becoming wet and tougher to play on. So playing on a brand-new 3G pitch is actually a positive for us and some of our technical players, so we’re excited about the task, excited about the journey up there, excited about a new and fresh opposition and looking forward to the tie. Hopefully we can be in Monday’s draw.”
