ST BLAZEY boss Mark Carter has bolstered his side for the upcoming Western League Premier Division campaign by signing Rio Daly and Aaron Bentley.

Ball-winning midfielder Daly, arrives from league rivals Ivybridge Town,

Carter, who has also convinced goalkeeper Kyle Moore and defender Jordan Bentley to commit having both arrived from Helston Athletic towards the end of last season, has also managed to bring in Jordan’s brother Aaron who was also with the Blues.

Both Bentleys were on the books of Plymouth Argyle as youngsters and won the Western League title with Helston in the 2023/24 campaign.

Last year’s top-scorer Jacob Rowe, who netted an impressive 16 times in a season where the Green and Blacks only survived with a game to spare, has left for pastures new, as has attacker George Newton who was a key figure.

Carter and Matt Parsons, who only took over for an interim spell over the winter before being given the job on a full-time basis, will hope for a season of stability having seen the Blaise Park outfit start the season with Brad Richardson and Andrew Moon in charge, before Lee Denton had a short spell in the hotseat.

Blazey, who are already back in training, also have a packed pre-season schedule with six games in total.

Saturday, July 5 sees them visit Devon League side Plymstock United before an exciting trip to Liskeard Athletic on the evening of July 8.

Liskeard’s SWPL Premier West rivals Sticker and Elburton Villa provide the opposition at home on July 12 and July 19 respectively, with a visit from Southern League outfit Falmouth Town sandwiched inbetween on the 16th.

Their final warm-up game is at Penzance on July 22.

All Saturday games are set for a 3pm kick-off with the exception of Plymstock, while evening kick-offs are due to get underway at 7.45pm.
