A HUGE two weeks in Grampound Road’s survival bid gets underway tomorrow with a derby date at a St Austell side who are closing in on safety following back-to-back victories.

St Austell have seen off Callington and Redruth to move 22 points clear of the Roadies who occupy the sole relegation spot with three games remaining.

The hosts draft in the hard-hitting Steve Raven to bolster the top order as Matt Lloyd makes way, while Grampound name their strongest side in weeks as four players return.

Seamer Nathan Keevil and batsman Dave Hoskings make their first appearances of the season, while veteran bowlers Lewis Sanders and David Neville also come in.

If they can gain reward and beat St Just next Saturday then a second great escape is on the cards.

ST JUST’S advantage over Grampound Road before their trip there next weekend is at 18, but would love to extend that further when they host a Werrington side whose away form has stopped them being right in the title mix.

Chamikara Edirisinghe misses a second straight game for the hosts due to an ankle problem, although they hope he will return the following Saturday. They are, however, boosted by the return of former Cornwall skipper Scott Harvey and seamer George Blaken.

Werrington - fresh off easing past Helston by eight wickets - name an unchanged side for the third straight week.

MATT Robins rolled back the years with a superb unbeaten half century at Penzance and Wadebridge will aim to keep the momentum going at home to a Callington side also not at full tilt.

The Swans are without their two main fast bowlers in Kiwi Ryan Jackson and Callum Wilson, but do welcome back number three Matt Rowe and seamer Charlie Hawken.

Cally thrashed St Just last Saturday but are again missing pro Chris Dent, while head coach Max Waller isn’t fit and is replaced by director of cricket Joe White.

TWO sides in mid-table meet at Beacon Parc with local pride at stake.

Helston have a 26-point cushion over Grampound Road and with several sides to play each other at the bottom, can plan for another year in the top-flight.

They host Redruth who arrive 10 points clear of the Blues but needing to put together more consistent performances with the bat, as shown by being dismissed for just 94 at home to St Austell last weekend.

Both sides are better with the ball, so whoever can grind out the runs will come out on top.

Helston have bowling all-rounder Sunny Osmont back in place of youngster Archie Martin, while the Reds name a strong side which includes the return of wicketkeeper Peter Howells.
