TRURO and Penwith College has formally announced its role as the official education partner for Truro City FC, with a clear focus on developing professional sport pathways in Cornwall.

The college and club will work together to showcase the opportunities available to young people through sport, education, coaching, media, performance and the wider sports industry. The collaboration will also help bring to life the player pathway, and highlight how Truro and Penwith College supports students to progress in sport both on and off the pitch, by increasing its connections with the county’s leading professional sports clubs.

A key focus of the next stage of the partnership will be regular storytelling across college, club and community channels, including student features, coach check-ins, player pathway spotlights and behind-the-scenes content designed to inspire young people across Truro and the wider county.

Carl Riding, Truro and Penwith College Principal, said: “Truro City FC is an important part of Cornwall’s professional sporting landscape, and we are proud to be strengthening our partnership with the club as its official education partner.

“This next stage is about showing young people what is possible. Whether students are interested in playing, coaching, media, performance, events or careers across the wider sports industry, partnerships like this help make those opportunities more visible, more relevant and more inspiring.”

Truro City FC will have more involvement at open events and community activity, while the college will have a regular presence across matchdays and digital platforms.

Rob Butland, head of commercial at Truro City FC, said: “The college plays a major role in supporting young people across Cornwall, and this partnership allows us to work together in a more focused way to celebrate student and player development, and create opportunities for young people both on and off the pitch.”
