LISKEARD Bowling Club invited long-term member Christine Westlake to present their trophies at the recent presentation luncheon at Trethorne, honouring the valued contributions and commitment shown over the years.

After her husband Tom died, Christine could not decide whether to take up bowls or bridge.

She ended up joining both, and this was 35 years ago. She quickly became a popular and well-respected member of our club, going on to be ladies captain in 2000 and then later ladies president.

She enjoyed all aspects of the club, including entering club and county competitions, and could always be relied upon to help with any catering tasks.

Christine was often seen supporting various members when they were playing away in the latter stages of county competitions.

Although no longer playing, Christine comes to watch as much as she can. The club was delighted to ask her to attend the annual luncheon at Trethorne and then to present the trophies to the various winners.

A presentation was also made to Kath Mote, a long-term member who had announced at the end of the 2025 season that she would be retiring from bowling.

We have a six-rink, well-kept green, a large car park, which is a good asset for visiting teams. Other facilities include a good-sized clubhouse with changing rooms, a kitchen and catering facilities which enable us to hold county competitions and Southwest league games.

If you do not wish to bowl, the club also have a large social membership.
