THERE is growing concern in a parish near Truro at the sale of a beach which has been used by generations of locals and visitors.

Loe Beach, near Feock, is on the market - complete with its own boatyard and café - with an indicative price tag of £3 million.

Situated on the western shore of the Fal Estuary, six miles from Truro, Loe Beach is well known among residents and visitors for its tranquil setting and direct access to Carrick Roads. Its location between Falmouth and St Mawes makes it popular for sailing and watersports.

The sale includes approximately 6.2 acres of land, around 78 metres of foreshore, a private beach extending to the low mean water point, a car park, boat storage, café, watersports facilities and grazing land.

Feock Parish Council will discuss the sale later this month after it was contacted by residents concerned about news of the sale. Members of the public are welcome to attend and speak during the public participation session at the start of the next council meeting on Monday, September 21, at 6pm at the Old Market Hall in Market Street, Devoran.

“Loe Beach is a much-loved and valuable community facility, and we understand the strength of feeling about its future,” said a parish council spokesperson.

The current owners receive income from the car park and rents paid by commercial operators based at the site. The property offers prospective purchasers the opportunity to retain existing arrangements or consider sensitive improvements to the facilities, subject to necessary consents.

A spokesperson for agents Vickery Holman described the sale as “a special piece of real estate” and “a rare and commercially positive situation”, adding it had been “in family ownership over many generations and is now available by way of informal tender”.
