A Newquay hotel has been named as one of the best in the UK.
The annual Top 50 Boutique Hotels list, run by William Reed’s The Morning Advertiser, revealed that the Scarlet Hotel has made the cut.
Coming in at number 21 on the list, which is sponsored by Taylors of Harrogate and Bibendum Wine, the Scarlet Hotel is a glass-walled ‘eco-hotel’ built into the Cornish cliffsides.
The hotel, which was founded by three sisters, is open to adults only, and focuses on sustainability - from organic towels to water-based paints, everything is as eco-friendly as possible.
There are 37 rooms throughout the hotel, each one facing the ocean, and a spa featuring a bromine-filtered indoor pool, an outdoor reed pool, log-fired hot tubs, a barrel sauna and a steam room.
Other features include relaxation cocoon pods and lantern-lit tents for treatment inspired by the Ayurveda holistic health system, as well as classes in wellbeing, yoga and Tai Chi.
The restaurant offers an ethical menu, from responsibly sourced seafood to seasonal vegetables, as well as vegan options.
Chris Lowe, group director of hospitality and manufacturing at William Reed, commented: “We’re delighted to be revealing this fantastic new list and see such strong movement in this year’s Top 50 Boutique Hotels.
“With staycations continuing to be a focus for Britons, it is encouraging to see such strong regional presence this year and such a wide range of unique hotel experiences to enjoy.”
