WHAT a fantastic time to be in Newquay.
This weekend sees the welcome return of Market Day to the Killacourt, and I’d encourage everyone to get along and show their support.
Whether you’re browsing the independent traders’ stalls or visiting one of the fantastic businesses that call the Killacourt home, there really is something for everyone.
Your Town Council has been working closely with event organisers, and I’m delighted to say that this year is shaping up to be our most exciting yet for events, more to come than ever before.
Keep an eye on the Town Council’s social media pages for the latest announcements. One event I’m particularly excited about is Newquay’s very first Eid celebration, taking place on the Killacourt on Sunday, May 10, organised by the wonderful team at Zamans restaurant.
A brilliant example of what makes our town so special, welcoming, inclusive, and full of community spirit.
And if you’re looking to get active for a great cause, there’s still time to sign up for the Newquay Hornets Rugby Club Colour Run on Sunday, May 17. Head to their social media page to register, it promises to be a brilliant morning.
Phil Trebilcock’s Harbour View
Another fine week of weather ahead with sunshine and moderate easterly winds.
The weather is looking nice for May Day in Padstow. Cornish King Crabs have turned up and there are also reasonable numbers of Octopus that have come up the North Coast, provide extra income but they do eat small lobsters, which is a concern.
It is good to see a lot of lugworm casts in the harbour again. There is no band this Saturday at Newquay Rowing Club.
Thought for the week: “Some people leave, but their memories don’t.”
