I HAVE been exceptionally busy addressing a range of issues across the St Mewan and Grampound division, but I am pleased to report some positive progress.
I have successfully secured two warning signs highlighting the consequences of fly-tipping at Penisker Road, Carne Hill, Trewoon – an area where residents have endured this problem for over a decade. I also pursued the installation of a CCTV camera in a suitable location, but was informed that GDPR regulations would require approval from the magistrates’ court.
Speeding by lorries along St Mewan Lane has now been tackled and I hope this will encourage drivers to adhere to the speed limits in the area.
Blocked drains remain a persistent challenge, leading to excess water and flooding in various spots, particularly around Polmassick. I am in regular contact with the highways department to resolve this ongoing issue.
I held a surgery at Trewoon Post Office Hub, which was well attended by residents eager to share their community concerns. I plan to host these sessions every couple of months and thoroughly enjoyed engaging with local people.
It was an honour to lay a wreath and deliver a reading at St Nun’s Church in Grampound; the turnout was excellent. I also attended a PCSO meeting in Grampound, where I listened carefully to residents’ worries.
I have completed various training sessions on topics including heritage planning, homelessness and the delivery of affordable housing. There is always plenty more training available, and I am learning a great deal from it.
I continue to attend local parish council meetings in St Mewan, St Ewe, Grampound and Pentewan, where I present my reports and respond to questions.
I am truly enjoying my role as a councillor – the challenges are rewarding, and I take great pleasure in assisting people.
