OUR lovely tour around Cornwall reaches spectacular Bedruthan Steps today, as the Voice continues its serialisation of the travel book, Cornwall Favourites For One And All!: A Quick Guide To Good Places To Visit Across The County.
Voice journalist Andrew Townsend, the author of the book, says: “Having previously visited the south and west of the county, we are now following the extensive northern coast of Cornwall.
‘This coast has plenty to offer visitors with resorts including Newquay and Perranporth, both known for their surfing. Away from the towns, there is also much to enjoy with tremendous rural beaches and amazing coastal scenery.”
Photographs of Bedruthan Steps have graced many a publication promoting Cornwall as a holiday destination.
The scene of giant rock stacks rising above golden sands and an azure sea has real appeal in the pictures - and even more appeal when you stand on the cliffs viewing them for real with the warm sun on your back and a gentle, cooling breeze wafting around you.
A steep staircase reaches down from the clifftop to the sands below. However, the area is prone to rockfalls which can prohibit access.

The National Trust says that even if you can’t go down to the beach, there are still the views, the walks, the wildflowers and the coastal birds to enjoy in this breathtaking location away to the north of Mawgan Porth. Plus, there’s the legend of a giant using the rock stacks as stepping stones!
Next time, we will be at beautiful Treyarnon Bay, a few miles to the west of Padstow.
Our extensive tour around the county, taking in well-known spots but also lesser-known locations, offers something for everyone, from sandy beaches, remote moorland, storm-beaten cliffs and scenic rivers to historic towns, pretty villages, mining heritage sites and visitor attractions.
