BEAUTIFUL sandy beaches and the impressive Trevone Round Hole feature today as the Voice continues its serialisation of the travel book, Cornwall Favourites For One And All!: A Quick Guide To Good Places To Visit Across The County.
Voice journalist Andrew Townsend, the author of the book, says: “Having previously visited the superb south and wonderful west of the county, we are now following the magnificent north coast of Cornwall.
“This coast has plenty to offer visitors with resorts, including Newquay and Perranporth, and amazing scenery.”
Three fabulous sandy bays are to be found on the coastline to the east of Trevose Head. The first is Polventon or Mother Ivey’s Bay with views to the nearby modern Padstow Lifeboat Station and its launch slipway.
The next is Harlyn Bay which has a wide expanse of golden sand and is also known for being the location of the largest Iron Age burial site in Cornwall.
And the third is Trevone Bay below the village of Trevone. Above the cliff to the north of the Trevone beach is the Trevone Round Hole, a huge hole in the ground caused by the action of the sea. The site was originally a sea cave before its roof collapsed.
The cliffs on the coast path north of here are of particular geological interest and some of the sights are awe-inspiring.
Lovely summer sunsets can be enjoyed from Trevone Bay where there is also a tidal swimming pool.
Next time, we will be in Padstow which pulls in thousands of visitors at the height of the tourist season.

Our extensive tour around the county, taking in well-known spots but also lesser-known locations, offers something for everyone, from brilliant beaches, remote moorland, storm-beaten cliffs and scenic rivers to historic towns, pretty villages, mining heritage sites and visitor attractions.
