A GROUP will be breaking the ground on a new Newquay community garden redevelopment project.
Supporters, partners, funders, volunteers and the wider community are invited to attend the event at Crantock Community Garden on Saturday, April 25, between 11am and 2pm.
The Crantock Street Community Garden committee will be lifting and rehoming many of the existing plants from the garden to prepare the site for redevelopment.
Visitors are invited to take home plants for a donation towards new planting as part of the redevelopment.
They will also be able to meet the team and find out more about the project.
The committee will be sharing its vision for the future of the garden including the new planting scheme.
The much-needed makeover involves creating accessible pathways and surfaces, safe and attractive planting areas, structured growing spaces, seating and social areas, outdoor learning and activity space, biodiversity-rich landscaping and durable infrastructure to support long-term community use.
The scheme has been designed by award winning landscape gardener Kim Parish from Landscapes of Distinction.
Anna Jay, the chair of Crantock Street Community Garden CIC, said: “After years of care, commitment and community effort, we are delighted to mark the start of our redevelopment project where we will be transforming the garden into a more accessible, welcoming and sustainable space for everyone.
“This event is an opportunity to come together with supporters, partners, funders, volunteers and the wider community to celebrate the next chapter of the garden.
“This is an exciting milestone for Crantock Street Community Garden and for Newquay, made possible thanks to the support of funders, partners and the local community.”
“We would be absolutely delighted if members of the community come and join us to celebrate, connect and be part of this next step.”
