WHAT a wonderful weekend it was to kick off the first LoveTreloggan community action event at Polwhele Road.

I was thrilled by the turnout of volunteers who gave up their time to weed, rake and sweep the green, pathway and road edges, the transformation was remarkable.

We created some new wildlife habitats and planted wildflowers that will really come into their own as the warmer months arrive. It was a brilliant reminder of what we can achieve when we come together, and I cannot wait for our next event where we will tackle the doorstep green area ahead of summer.

As Easter approaches, Newquay is already buzzing.

Schools up country broke up last Friday, with our local schools following this week, so there is plenty on to keep young and old entertained.

I will be down at the Killacourt this Saturday for the town council’s Easter egg hunt do come along, as the monthly market will be on too, making for a great morning out. I’d also encourage everyone to get involved in the Easter Trail, everything you need is available from our brilliant Library and Tourist Information Centre.

On behalf of Newquay Town Council, I wish you all a very happy Easter.

If you have little ones off school, I hope you enjoy some wonderful family time together.

Phil Trebilcock: Harbour View

A cold start to the week, but milder now with south westerly winds and a few showers.

All the boats are going back in today. A couple have been sold to Wales and Scotland.

The last gig went to Scillies yesterday on the Scillonian. The bass season opens today after a two month closure. This Saturday Substitute is playing in Newquay Rowing Club at 9pm.

Thought for the week: “Difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations.”
