A FESTIVE women’s institute in Newquay served up a £127 donation to a healthy cooking project for its Christmas celebrations.

Beaches & Cream WI raised the money for Soul Food Kitchen at its Christmas meeting through a tombola. Members donated prizes and bought tickets.

Four Beaches & Cream WI members presented the cheque to the charity.

A spokesperson for Beaches & Cream said: “Soul Food was very grateful for the donation

“The kitchen was set up 13 years ago and hasn't closed even through covid. The helpers provide a hot healthy meal every Thursday for anyone that needs it.

“Normally cooking for 25 people and also giving a social space and friendship for the community.”
