The Truro Branch of the Royal British Legion led a two-minute silence at 11am today [Tuesday, November 11] at the War Memorial in Boscawen Street, to mark the ending of the First World War in 1918.
Rev Simon Robinson, Dean of Truro Cathedral, said prayers and bugler Gillian Allen sounded the Last Post as dignitaries, military personnel and members of the public bowed their heads.
Cllr Chris Wells, mayor of Truro, said: “The November Remembrance events are an opportunity for us all to remember the many people who have given their lives in the service of our country, and to honour their bravery and sacrifice.
“I feel very privileged to be able to represent the people of Truro, and the city’s Councillors and staff, on such an important occasion.”
