A MAN and a woman were airlifted to safety after being cut off by the incoming tide between Tolcarne and Lusty Glaze Beach on Friday night, April 12.

HM Coastguard Padstow SAR Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924 winched both casualties out from the base of the cliff whilst a Newquay lifeboat and Towan RNLI lifeguards onboard a jetski PWC watched on at about 5.50pm.

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said: “We were tasked alongside Newquay RNLI Lifeboats to reports coming in via 999 of two casualties trapped by the incoming tide.

“With the lifeguards and lifeboat standing by R924 winched both casualties out from the base of the cliff and landed on the Barrowfields where the casualties were handed over to the team.

“Although wet and cold neither casualty required any further medical attention and were transported back to their accommodation.

“Another great example of multi-agency co-operation. Thanks to all assets for their assistance.”
