A 12-year-old boy died in a road traffic collision in Pool, near Redruth, on Monday.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a white Iveco van and the 12-year-old on the A3047 Agar Road junction with Wilson Way, Pool, Redruth at around 3.35pm.

The boy died at the scene as a result of his injuries. His family have been made aware and are being supported by specialist family liaison officers.

A 67-year-old man from Hayle has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention and on suspicion of driving whilst unfit. He remains in police custody at this time.

The road was closed for some time to allow an investigation to take place, led by the roads policing team. It was reopened at around 1am on Tuesday.

Officers are calling for any witnesses or anyone who has any information or dashcam footage that could help with enquiries, to come forward.

There will also be a pop-up police surgery held at Morrison’s car park on Agar Road between 1pm and 2pm today (Tuesday, March 14) for members of the community and or witnesses to speak to officers.

In addition, members of the public will also see local officers undertaking high visibility patrols at the start and end of the school day in the area for the next few days to provide added for reassurance.
