A RESIDENTIAL city property has become a no-go zone following a full closure order granted by local magistrates.

No one is allowed to enter the home at Whitley Close, off Mitchell Hill in Truro, following incidents of anti-social, threatening and nuisance behaviour. The closure order action was taken following investigations by local police and council officials.

Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Anna Elvans said: “Under the terms of the order, no one is permitted to enter the property, which has been fully boarded up and secured.

“This outcome has been achieved through the relentless work and dedication of all those involved. I would particularly like to acknowledge the significant efforts of the local Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Officer Stephen Lennon and Cornwall Housing officers, whose ongoing support and commitment have been instrumental in securing this result.

“We don’t underestimate the distress caused to those living close to nuisance properties who suffer from any anti-social behaviour carried out.”

The same property was subject to a partial closure order from June 4 this year for three months due to the negative community impact on other nearby residents. The order now runs as a full closure for three months with total restrictions from today (Thursday, September 2). Breaching the order is a criminal offence resulting in a court appearance.

Members of the local neighbourhood police team will meet the public at a pop-up surgery at Goonhavern Garden Centre from 10.30am to midday on Sunday, September 6; and at Perranporth Library from 3pm to 5pm on Thursday, September 17.
