TRIBUTES have been paid to a former mayor of St Columb Major Town Council who has died.

David Crewes gave dedicated service to various community groups over the years.

The Cornish Bard, who worked as a firefighter, was involved with St Columb Carnival Committee, St Columb Old Cornwall Society, Cornwall Fire Brigade, Lowender Peran and St Columb Town Council.

A spokesperson for St Columb Major Town Council said: “The council was saddened to learn of the death of David Crewes.

“Mr Crewes, 'Dave,' was a town mayor, Cornish Bard and firefighter.

“The flag of St Piran will be flown in Dave's honour on the day of the funeral.”

Mr Crewes’ funeral will be held in St Columb Major Church on Saturday, October 18 at 2pm.
