REDRUTH Town Council have said that they are ‘deeply disappointed’ after vandals left tyre tracks across a popular park in the town earlier this week.
The incident at East End Park, which has been reported to the police, was believed to have occurred on Monday, October 19 and potentially involved e-bikes.
The damage comes at a time when the town council had recently invested £30,000 in a new pathway through the park, with more work for play equipment on the horizon.
Witnesses are being sought following the incident, which will leave the town council with no choice but to divert public funds from other areas in order to pay for repairs.
A town council spokesperson said: “Redruth Town Council is deeply disappointed by the damage caused at East End Park.
“The town council has recently invested £30,000 in a new pathway, with further improvements, including new inclusive play equipment, planned for the park. Unfortunately, repairing this avoidable damage will add costs and divert valuable public funds from other improvements across the town.
“The incident has been reported to the police, and the town council has requested increased patrols in the park.
“We ask everyone to help us look after our valued community spaces and encourage anyone who witnessed the incident, has relevant dashcam footage from the area, or has information about what happened to contact Redruth Town Council on 01209 210038 or email [email protected].”
