THINGS added up nicely for Newquay students competing at a prestigious maths competition.

A group of Year 5 students won the trophy at the Cornwall Maths Olympiad held at Nexus Camborne after going up against 16 other schools from around the county.

The students joined forces to solve various tricky maths problems.

Teacher Warrick Murphy said: “Our brilliant Year 5 mathematicians enjoyed a day packed with fun, challenge, and learning. From solving tricky problems to discovering new strategies, it was a full day of brainpower and teamwork.

“With 16 schools competing, we’re thrilled that Newquay Junior Academy took home the trophy.

“Huge congratulations to our maths stars. We’re so proud of their achievement and teamwork.”
